Belarus strengthening economic ties with India, Nicaragua
An expanded meeting of the Standing Committee on National Security of the House of Representatives was held in Minsk, draft laws on ratification of agreements with India and Nicaragua were discussed
The draft laws On Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of India on Co-operation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Affairs and On Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua on Co-operation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Affairs were on the agenda.
The agreement with India will become an important element of strengthening bilateral relations for the period 2024-2026 and will contribute to the promotion of Belarusian interests in the Southeast Asian region. The Belarusian-Nicaraguan agreement is aimed at ensuring the customs security of both countries and implements the agreements reached during the visit of the Belarusian delegation to the Latin American state in July this year. International agreements with partner countries will help protect the economic interests of Belarus. Their implementation will be an important step in the face of sanctions and will support the well-being of citizens.
As Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Security of the House of Representatives Gennady Lepeshko noted, the adoption of these laws will eliminate bureaucratic obstacles, provide mutual assistance in the field of customs regulation and minimise possible violations in this area. “As a result, goods will pass faster, as co-operation with India and Nicaragua is gaining momentum,” he said.
