Serbian President urged great powers to prioritise peace in Ukraine
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called on the great powers to first achieve a peaceful settlement of the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, before tackling the issues of climate change, TASS reports
“Yes, we need to deal with floods, droughts, forest fires, air and water pollution and everything else, but before that we need to establish peace, and that’s why I urge all the great powers to resolve problems, to settle issues in Ukraine, the Middle East, and everywhere around the world,” the Serbian leader said at the COP29 in Baku.
According to Aleksandar Vucic, no one likes the word ‘peace’ today, because everyone ‘wants to defeat each other and see the other side defeated’. As he stressed, all countries need to ‘invest much more in peace’, otherwise, instead of fighting climate change, they will be forced to spend resources on weapons.
