Procedure for encouraging cultural figures and athletes with special Presidential awards has been changed

On November 10th, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, signed decrees No. 350 and No. 351, which improve the activities of the Fund of the President of Belarus for the Support of Culture and Arts and regulate approaches to special awards to art luminaries, alongside the Spiritual Revival and the Belarusian Sports Olympus awards – as reported by the Belarusian leader’s press service

Now the Fund of the President of Belarus for the Support of Culture and Arts will also provide support to projects dealing with patriotic education of the population, the preservation of national spiritual traditions, the return of cultural values, as well as social projects and initiatives for certain categories of citizens (orphans, disabled people, the elderly, etc.).

Proportional financing of repair and restoration works on historical and cultural values is envisaged from local budgets, sponsorship, other sources and money of the fund, formed from deductions from business activities and compensation for damage caused to historical and cultural values. Support will be distributed evenly across the regions.

The grounds for awarding the Spiritual Revival Award include activities for the patriotic education of youth and the implementation of charitable projects. The types of arts in which a special prize is awarded to art luminaries have been added.

The amount of the Belarusian Sports Olympus Award has been significantly increased – up to 350 basic values (similar to the size of the Spiritual Revival Award and special awards to art luminaries). The opportunity has been given to award it to labour teams of organisations that have made a significant contribution to the development of physical culture and sports.

A unified procedure has also been established for the deprivation of special prizes to art luminaries, the Spiritual Revival and the Belarusian Sports Olympus awards and the restoration of the rights of their laureates.
