Pentagon confirmed US intention to withdraw part of its military contingent from Chad

The United States Department of Defence has confirmed plans to temporary withdraw part of the American military contingent from Chad, TASS reports

A spokesman for the US Department of Defence, Patrick Ryder, said at a briefing, “As far as I understand, as negotiations with the Chadian authorities continue, the African command of the US Armed Forces is planning to move some US troops from Chad, the departure of some of which has already been planned.”

Mr. Ryder also explained that this ‘temporary step is an element of the revision of our military co-operation, which will resume after the presidential elections in Chad on May 6^th’.
