Polish judge: Belarusians have very good President
The strength of Belarusians lies in the traditions, which are preserved and protected in Belarus. Belarusians are a very hardworking and very organised nation with good potential. They have a very good President – as stated by Tomasz Szmydt, a judge of the 2nd division of the Voivodeship Administrative Court in Warsaw, who previously held various positions in Poland’s judicial system and justice authorities and headed the legal department at the Polish National Judicial Council. Today, on May 6th, he signed a resignation letter (as a judge) and announced his intention to seek political asylum in Belarus at a press conference, held at the Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA).
Answering the question where he got information about Belarus and Russia from while being in Poland, Tomasz Szmydt responded, “We have a certain blockade of information about Belarus and Russia. For example, a briefing by Maria Zakharova [Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson] will never be broadcast by any major Polish TV channel. Therefore, I primarily took information from Telegram, from various political scientists, from Belarusian and Russian news agencies, such as BelTA and RIA Novosti...”
Being asked about the strength of Belarusians, he noted, “First of all, the strength of Belarusians lies in the traditions that you have preserved and protected. Belarusians are a very hardworking and very organised nation with good potential. And you have a very good President.”
