Opinion: women appreciate Belarus’ President attention towards them
A large-scale women's forum was held in Minsk on March 5th, gathering about 600 ladies from all over Belarus to meet with the Head of State. Aleksandr Lukashenko's communication with the activists of the Belarusian Women's Union lasted almost two and a half hours, and it was very sincere and trust-based. Olga Shpilevskaya, the Director of the Mir TV and Radio Company representative office in Belarus and Chairperson of the Belarusian Women’s Union, explained why meetings of the kind are necessary, and what inspires Belarusian women to take an active part in the country’s socio-political life.
In 2020, the Minsk-Arena complex hosted the women's forum – For Belarus, and it brought together more than 10,000 beautiful ladies from all over the country. The event was then crowned by the unexpected coming on stage by President Aleksandr Lukashenko. As admitted by Ms. Shpilevskaya in her talk with Alfa Radio, that moment gave birth to the Belarusian women’s movement.
“Since then, we have been anticipating our new meeting with the Head of State, because we all wanted to live through the same emotions again. Actually, Aleksandr Lukashenko has amazing energy, and women really love him very much. You can hardy imagine how many comments I have received so far [about that meeting]. Many ladies call our office and ask how to join the Belarusian Women’s Union, because they appreciate the attention that the President is paying to them. Believe me, this is important for any woman. The Head of State is showing so much love and trust, and ladies can then translate this energy to the others. As a result, the positive energy is virtually spreading across our country,” Ms. Shpilevskaya noted.
The Chairperson of the Belarusian Women’s Union added, “I am very grateful to the President for responding to our idea of holding a meeting. It gathered 600 people. It was held not at Minsk-Arena this time, but I believe there will be such a format. The meeting brought together activists of the Belarusian Women’s Union who really love their country, who are patriots. That meeting was a unique opportunity for our ladies to see and hear the Head of State without any intermediaries represented by the media.”
