Naryshkin: Poland intends to take control of part of Ukrainian territories
The Polish leadership is waiting for the right moment to take control of part of the Ukrainian territories – as Head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergei Naryshkin told reporters
“Gaining control over the western territories of modern Ukraine is the longed-for dream of Polish nationalists, and this is becoming an element of national ideology. Therefore, the Polish leadership can no longer refuse this idea,” the Head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service emphasised. “The Polish leadership believes that the condition for the implementation of this idea is the collapse of Ukrainian statehood as a result of a military defeat. Therefore, the Polish authorities do not want and oppose a peaceful settlement on the territory of Ukraine, assuring that they will provide constant assistance to the Kiev regime. Of course, this situation aggravates the position of Ukraine, the Ukrainian people. The Polish leadership is waiting for the right moment to seize control over these territories.”
In this context, Sergei Naryshkin recalled the story of the late 1930s, when, as a result of the odious Munich Agreement, Hitler occupied Czechoslovakia, and Poland ‘snatched’ Cieszyn of this country. It was then that British PM Churchill aptly called Poland ‘the greedy hyena of Europe’.
“Now history repeats itself,” said Sergei Naryshkin.
