MP: systemic political forces should participate in Belarus’ elections, rather than madmen or fifth column

No one will let Belarusians hold the upcoming elections calmly, so there should be no illusions – as noted by the Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus, a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Oleg Gaidukevich

The MP stressed, “Belarus is entering the election campaigns of 2024-2025. No one will let our people hold these elections calmly, and Belarusians have no illusions about this. Those who call themselves democratic forces have no influence on society. What kind of democratic forces are these?! This is the fifth column, which was first located in Minsk and accepted money, and which now stays in Polish and Lithuanian hotels, also taking Western money. Has any of these people got a job at a factory in Poland?”

Mr. Gaidukevich stressed, “We should all closely liaise with all patriotic parties and public organisations during these campaigns in order to work together. Competition is necessary, but it should be healthy, sincere and aimed at the good of the country, rather than at show and populism. In this regard, I believe that we should once and for all exclude madmen from participating in the Presidential elections. It is clear that they will probably be afraid to take part this time, but what will happen in 10 years?! There will definitely be those who participate for money; there will be madmen. Therefore, my suggestion is as follows. At the legislative level, we have determined that a person who has collected 100,000 signatures could be a Presidential candidate – but this is not enough. In addition to this number of signatures, this person must be proposed by a systemic political force. We have trade unions, large public associations, political parties, and so on. Systemic political forces should participate in the elections, rather than madmen or the fifth column!”
