Memory Train arrived in Brest

Smiles, hugs and anticipation of unforgettable impressions — all participants of the Memory Train project have met in Brest, when the unique train arrived at the railway station on June 21st. Two hundred children from eight countries will take a two-week route, travelling through different cities of Belarus and Russia, visiting landmark places associated with the Great Patriotic War and paying tribute to those who won the Great Victory.

It’s noisy on the platform, where 55 youngsters from Belarus are looking forward to the train that will arrive any minute. They have passed many competitive selections for the right to get on this train. Their peers from other countries are already there. This year, the Memory Train brought together an unprecedented number of participating countries. Children from Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan will travel to the places of the heroic history of fraternal peoples.

The Memory Train – a unique patriotic cultural and educational project – is being held for the third year in a row upon the initiative of the heads of the upper chambers of the parliaments of Belarus and Russia. The number of schoolchildren who become train passengers is invariably: 200 best of the best. These are winners of contests, prize-winners of Olympiads, history experts and real patriots. Meanwhile, the number of countries participating in the project is increasing every year. In 2022, schoolchildren from Belarus and Russia went on a historical journey, and a year later they were joined by youngsters from Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. In 2024, the Memory Train united eight states.
