According to the publication, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping will hold talks in Uzbekistan on September 15th-16th to outline the prospects for co-operation between Russia and China. The two sides will tackle interaction in the economic and military spheres and how the Russian Federation and China can jointly oppose the West.

“Political observers attach great symbolic significance to the meeting. Xi Jinping has not left China for more than two years. The fact that his first trip abroad is now aimed at meeting Vladimir Putin is seen as a clear commitment to Russia,” Handelsblatt writes.

Moreover, the article emphasises that the recent visit of Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan has greatly increased tensions between China and the United States.
