Media: Germany denied entry to almost six thousand Ukrainians since early 2024

In nine months of 2024, the German police refused entry to 5,935 citizens of Ukraine, RIA Novosti reports

Referring to exclusive data confirmed by law enforcement, the German newspaper Bild reported, “The federal police have detained thousands of criminals, extremists, and illegal migrants to date. These are the data on the control of land borders (with the exception of airports and seaports) by the federal police.”

It is indicated that, since the beginning of this year, the police have registered 53,410 illegal entries into the country during checks at land borders, 1,195 smugglers have been arrested, and 1,088 smuggling operations have been identified. From January to September inclusive, German law enforcement officers arrested a total of 7,783 people against whom previously unfulfilled arrest warrants were executed. Among the offenses were unpaid fines, serious criminal offenses and unfulfilled detentions. In some cases, there were also international search warrants.

According to the publication, the most people were expelled at the borders with Switzerland (9,113), Poland (7,862), Austria (5,468), and France (2,350). Ukrainians (5,935), Syrians (4,708) and Afghans (2,396) received the most refusals. There were also 1,482 deported migrants who intended to return to the country despite the ban.
