The Head of State noted that the decisive stage of the summer harvest time has come.

The Belarusian leader believes that the gross harvest of grain crops this year may reach 10-11 million tonnes, which would be very good.

“Bread crops are still mostly in the fields, and they need to be harvested quickly and without losses. In this case we will meet all grain needs for the year ahead, provide a feed base, and save on imports. But, as usual, there are pitfalls,” the Head of State noted.

The President drew attention to the fact that due to weather conditions the timing of plant development is about 10 days ahead of last year’s, meaning that the harvest time has shifted.

“We will have to harvest several crops at the same time. Moreover, the harvest itself is accompanied with forage crops of the second and third mowing, as well as with sowing winter cruciferous. We have experience in dealing with this situation. We need high organisation of work, good motivation of farmers and iron discipline,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed, adding that we don’t have that yet.
