What Lukashenko demanded from Government and governors
During today’s conference call on the 2024 harvesting campaign, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko demands high-quality harvesting while maintaining a high level of labour and technological discipline
“Some have already forgotten that we declared 2024 as the Year of Quality. The conversation is not only about technology. Already at the initial stage of the harvesting campaign, the facts of poor-quality harvesting were revealed,” the President stressed.
According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, such violations were recorded at certain farms in the Ivatsevichi, Zhabinka, Kamenets, Stolin, Svetlogorsk, Korelichi, Novogrudok, Volozhin, and Osipovichi districts.
“The situation with labour and technological discipline is similar in forage harvesting… Nitrogen fertilisers have not been applied to perennial grasses after the first mowing in many farms, which will negatively affect their yield from the second or third mowing,” the Head of State indicated.
The President demanded clear reports on problematic issues, “What is the situation in the regions with personnel: drivers, farm machine and combine operators? What do we have today with the readiness of combine harvesters, drying and grain cleaning facilities? How is the situation on the ground? What issues need to be addressed immediately? What else is needed to make the necessary fleet of vehicles ready?”
The Head of State also demanded from the Government and the heads of the regions comprehensive information about the assistance provided to farmers by our manufacturers of agricultural machinery, “Are there any problems in its operation and maintenance? How are fuel supply issues being resolved? Have all the issues of the supply of agricultural products under the state order been settled?”
According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, there should be no problems with harvesting food grains this year.
“It is necessary to accept all ordered grain promptly and pay for it in a timely manner. Funds have been allocated for this. Grain acceptance should be organised round-the-clock,” the Head of State demanded.
The President emphasised the need to help harvest the crops on citizens’ personal farmsteads, “District executive committees, village councils and heads of farms are primarily responsible for this.”
The Head of State noted that he is ready to listen to other issues that need to be settled at the national level.
