Luxembourg MP: West should abandon trade wars and plan future co-operation with BRICS
The West should abandon trade wars and focus on developing co-operation with the BRICS member states – as noted by Fernand Kartheiser, a member of the European Parliament from Luxembourg, TASS reports
“We should not reason in terms of competition, confrontation, trade wars or other difficulties, but seek for opportunities to liaise. I think this is really a challenge we should take up, and it is in this spirit that we should plan future co-operation with the BRICS countries, as well as with Western states,” the MP emphasised in a video message to an international conference on the prospects for co-operation between BRICS and European countries.
Mr. Kartheiser described BRICS as a very important association, “It is such an important movement that at the recent summit in Kazan, in the presence of the UN Secretary General [Antonio Guterres], there was an important declaration that we, in the West, should use to realise how important this movement has become.”
He stated that the BRICS political influence ‘has already proved very fruitful’, as relations between some countries of the association have improved.
