Lukashenko: world has changed, but not in the way those in the West dreamt of

During the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress, President Aleksandr Lukashenko outlined the main challenges and threats along the perimeter of the Belarusian borders, stressing that – despite the geopolitical changes on the planet, the United States does not abandon its strategy of dominance

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted, “The world has already changed, but not in the way those beyond the ocean dreamt of. What do they wish? What are they placing stakes on? The United States, having launched a brisk attack simultaneously on all those who disagree with it, realised that it made a mistake by uniting disobedient Russia and its main enemy – China. Through its pressure, it has united these two states: Russia with its rich natural resources and powerful military-industrial complex, and China that boasts a huge economic and human potential. It realised that it would not be able to cope with this alliance. I know this, I met with high-ranking Americans to discuss this topic five years ago. What could be done? It found a way out: to shift the conflict in Europe (Ukraine) onto the shoulders of the European Union and NATO (assisting them with money). The goal is to distract Russia’s attention, to make it busy with the war with Ukraine, to weaken it with war and sanctions – so that Russia will not think of an alliance with China or any unity. At the same time, it [plans] to deal with China, to involve – if possible – the ‘interested’ parties (AUKUS, which is new NATO in the Pacific Ocean), into these wrangles, attracting also Japan and South Korea. This is the key to the US strategy for world domination! No one will need it further. They [Americans] will abandon everyone, as they did in Afghanistan.”

The Belarusian leader noted that this is why the republic faces NATO on its western borders, “A plan has been approved for the deployment of 300,000 troops on the eastern flank of the block. They call it ‘a containment belt’. We only wish to understand who they are going to hold back. Poles have deployed combat units of their armed forces on the border with us to protect themselves against the alleged ‘mass flows of migrants from the Belarusian territory’. Seriously? Have professional and heavily armed military men been deployed on the border to kill women, children, unarmed people fleeing the war, the territories that they [Westerners] had ruined? You have seen how they are defending the border. They mutilate, kill and then throw corpses and cripples into our territory.”

The Head of State stressed, “A brigade-level formation of the German armed forces will be deployed on the territory of Lithuania until 2028 (Germans have actually failed to understand anything, and the WWII lessons have not been taught by them), in addition to the forces and means of the united NATO armed forces numbering up to 5 thousand people. Up to 20,000 NATO soldiers are concentrated in Poland and the Baltic States. Remember, after the Second World War, they – the leaders, the elite of Europe – called us the occupiers. Meanwhile, how could be called the deployment of more than 60,500 servicemen of the US armed forces and more than 30 thousand NATO soldiers in Western Europe on a permanent basis? Is this not an occupation? Is this something different? What political decisions will European leaders make at gunpoint of the American group?”

At the same time, the United States is rapidly modernising its tactical nuclear weapons stored at air bases in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Turkiye, and the Netherlands, and Aleksandr Lukashenko commented, “In military terminology, this is called ‘strike-offensive capabilities’ and components. They are not defensive. So what questions can be placed upon us? Why did they get so excited when we deployed similar functional weapons on our bases?”
