Lukashenko: those who tore thread of generations, necessarily generated turmoil and war
On the bright Easter holiday people pray for peace – as stated today by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko during his visit to St. Elijah Church in Orsha
The Head of State stressed that this May combines two of the greatest holidays: Easter and Victory Day. Meanwhile, the current difficulty is that we’re observing a generational change.
“It’s very important for us not to break the traditions that we have created with you,” Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined. “It’s vital for our children not to abandon everything that we have created. It’s not because we’re holding on to the old. It’s because those who tore the thread of generations, necessarily generated at least turmoil … or war at worst. We managed to escape this because we were standing on the shoulders of the previous generation. We’ve absorbed everything that our fathers and grandfathers created. That’s why we withstood. When it was torn apart in some country, it definitely led to a turmoil while there are always a lot of people wishing to take advantage of this. Therefore, it would be very desirable that during the difficult process of generational change, we preserve all the best that has been created on our land. Since time has chosen us, we must preserve peace and quiet on our land. This is the greatest challenge for our generation.”
The President stressed that this year is special, as it marks the 80th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders.
“It is special for us, like for no other nation, because in those years of fascist aggression Belarus simply did not exist. It was wiped off the face of the earth: from the western to the eastern borders. Everything was destroyed. People survived only because our nature, our forests, hid them. How can we forget these labour, these heroic deeds of our people? We can’t do this!” the Belarusian leader emphasised.
Addressing the residents of Orsha, the President noted that they have all necessary for life: from fertile soil to a large number of enterprises.
“These are wonderful lands. It’s necessary just to work hard and reap good harvests. So many enterprises have been built in Orsha and around it that there are not enough workers today. I’ve already said that we will not just think, but will take large-scale actions to provide these enterprises with manpower. There’re facilities to work at and there’s an opportunity to earn money. Peace is the most important thing, but this is already my concern. Therefore, since time has chosen us, let’s preserve peace and quiet,” Aleksandr Lukashenko summed up.
