Lukashenko: woman should live her life to the fullest here and now

During today’s meeting with activists of the Belarusian Women’s Union public association, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, was asked a philosophical question. Software engineer for Volkovysk electrical networks Maria Poluden recalled Aristotle’s saying that some save up, as if they must live forever, while others spend, as if they will die immediately. What a woman should be like: an economical housewife and a guardian of the family hearth – modest in her demands and financially organised – or should she live the way she wants here and now?

“It’s a philosophical question,” agreed the Head of State. “But I like philosophy.”

As far as spending or saving is concerned, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted, “If you have no savings, what can you spend? Therefore, our woman has everything in balance. She needs no advice in this regard. She definitely knows when to save: she is a real woman. Fortunately, we have a few others who can spend other’s money. But our real Belarusian women know how to save and spend on time.”

The President summed up, “We must live here and now, looking into the future.”
