Lukashenko: issue of dairy farms should be settled over next five years

Over the next five years, the issue of the construction of modern and high-tech dairy farms will be settled in Belarus – as noted by President Aleksandr Lukashenko on October 29th, while being reported on the efficiency of the agro-industrial complex

The Head of State noted that the situation in the country today is such that simply speaking beautifully is no longer enough, ‘the governors won’t accept it, let alone people’, “People need to know everything. That’s right. Therefore, going into the Presidential campaign, we should tell our people what we’re going to do, where and how.”

The Belarusian leader cited the prospects for the construction and repair of roads as an example, “I have already outlined the instruction: from district centres to agro-towns. We have done a lot. There is very little work left. But we must also involve large villages that were once the centres of farms. Yes, people will live mainly in agro-towns, but large and small villages also have a huge number of our people, especially the elderly, whom we can’t abandon. We need to take care of them.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko is convinced that as far as food is concerned, it all starts with a dairy farm, “We have already done a lot. We know how and what to do, we know the relevant technology. We have built a lot of these facilities. We must tell people directly that over the next five years we will solve the issue of dairy farms. Cows should be kept in these modern facilities, enabling them to give pure milk of high quality .”

According to the President, the Minsk Region needs a couple of years to settle this problem, while others need obviously to catch up.

“This applies to the Vitebsk, Mogilev, and partly Gomel regions. I don’t think there are such big problems there to build these facilities. Most importantly, we know what they should be and what is needed for them. Moreover, it is an import-substituting project. We don’t need anything imported here, being able to construct everything on our own. That is, I give examples that when we go to people today with an exam (we will take the exam for what has been done in five years of our work), we must specifically say what we are going to do. That’s the whole policy. We all know how to talk beautifully. The main thing is what we will do and what we have behind. That is, the situation has changed, and if someone with old promises is trying to go to the polls, they have to be very careful.”
