Lukashenko: US president had nothing to do with prisoner swap between Russia and Western countries

The US president had nothing to do with organising the prisoner swap between Russia and Western countries, although he is now trying to ‘gain’ authority on this – as noted by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko during today’s conversation with residents of Prudok agro-town in the Mozyr District

“It was necessary to exchange someone. You saw that the guys have been extracted. We were asked, we joined in, and helped in the way we could. People have been released who have been imprisoned for life in the West. However, someone is using this situation to gain his authority, like the US president, even though he had nothing to do with it. The special services conducted these talks, even diplomats were not involved. However, we have agreed that we would do it quietly - but shouts all over the world began. Such things are done quietly,” the Head of State noted.

The President mentioned German citizen Rico Krieger, who committed (fortunately, without victims) a terrorist act in our country, was pardoned by him and also given for prisoner swap, “What would have happened if he had blown up and, God forbid, people had died? It’s good that it turned out that way. Therefore, we will act wisely: in a way that is beneficial to people.”
