Lukashenko to inspect renovated Traktor Stadium in Minsk
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko will inspect the renovated Traktor Stadium and the surrounding infrastructure today, BelTA reports
The Head of State was invited to visit this facility together with the 50th Anniversary of the Great October Revolution Park and the Rings of Glory House of Physical Culture (located nearby and also reconstructed) a week ago, during the opening of an international standard swimming pool in Minsk. Aleksandr Lukashenko accepted the invitation.
The President will be reported on the general improvement of the Belarusian capital, the development of sports infrastructure in Minsk and the reconstruction of the Traktor Stadium.
This facility was built in the 1950s and has undergone several renovations, the most recent of which was completed by November 7th, 2024. Initially it was planned to hold international level competitions here. However, in connection with the construction of the National Football Stadium, located nearby, it was decided to prepare the Traktor Stadium for football matches of the highest league of the Belarusian championship.
During the reconstruction, the stadium territory was declared a youth construction site, involving student construction teams from all universities of Minsk.
Currently, there is a natural turf playing field with four running tracks along it, and two artificial turf fields for mini-football behind the gates. Over 5,800 fans can watch the game from the stands.
The renovated Traktor Stadium will be the home arena for the matches of the men’s and women’s teams of the Minsk FC, its infrastructure will be used for the educational and training process of the sports school included in the club structure. Of course, the stadium will also be open to the public. In addition, it is planned that a youth creative space will start functioning here soon, becoming the centre of attraction for the BRSM activists in Minsk.
In close proximity to the Traktor Stadium is the 50th Anniversary of the Great October Revolution Park, which was also reconstructed this year. Particular attention was paid to sports and recreation facilities when renovating the park: playgrounds for volleyball and mini-football, for streetball and workout, for skateboarding and outdoor fitness equipment.
Nearby there is also the Rings of Glory House of Physical Culture, where pupils of the specialised children and youth Olympic Reserve school in artistic gymnastics and acrobatics train. After the reconstruction completed in 2023, the renovated facility has been used for training in men’s artistic gymnastics disciplines.
