Activists in S. Korea oppose arms supply to Kiev
Today, several South Korean non-profit organisations have held a protest against the supply of weapons to Ukraine amid reports of the arrival of Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov in Seoul, TASS reports
The Workers’ Solidarity organisation has staged a picket in front of the country’s presidential administration building in Seoul.
“They say that President Yoon Suk Yeol is scheduled to meet a special Ukrainian delegation in his office in Yongsan today. During this meeting, the special delegation is expected to ask the president to supply weapons,” the activists said.
Prior to that, the Yonhap news agency reported that a delegation led by Umerov arrived in the Republic of Korea, where they are also expected to meet with Defence Minister Kim Yong-hyun.
The activists say that a decision in favour of supplying weapons to Ukraine would increase tensions on the Korean Peninsula. They demanded that the South Korean government abandon ‘plans to supply arms’, and the West give up on ‘expanding the war’.
