Lukashenko: those imposing sanctions turned from responsible politicians into hype bloggers
The issue of food shortage is still on the agenda in the age of high technology, Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the 2nd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security
The Head of State drew attention to the fact that the scale of hunger on the planet is already approaching the figures of the post-war years. About 750 million people are hungry, while almost 3 billion more do not have proper nutrition.
“What do you call this? At the same time, countries that export food, fertilisers, and agricultural machinery are being deprived, for political reasons, of the right to supply their products where they are badly needed. And those who impose sanctions do not hesitate to visit the poorest countries to gain publicity by handing out hot cakes to starving children. They have turned from responsible politicians into hype bloggers.”
The Belarusian leader stressed that, being aimed at destroying national economies, the sanctions actually work against ordinary people, “Under such conditions, what kind of fulfillment of commitments under the UN Sustainable Development Goals can we talk about? It is quite obvious that without the bandit prohibitions and restrictions of the West, the world would have moved much closer to achieving these goals.”
