Lukashenko: there’s no room for complacency
At the final meeting of the Council of Ministers, the President demanded from the Government and the entire vertical of power, first of all, to save money and in no case be complacent
Addressing the participants of the event, Aleksandr Lukashenko said, “This is not the first year I have been working, and I already have intuition and animal instinct in this regard. Yes, sanctions… They shouted all this objectively, everything is difficult, but now they have calmed down: everything is fine. Everything is not fine! The worst thing is complacency. There’s no room for complacency. I asked you to give me economic achievements. The government, governors, the entire vertical of power, should work for the economy. Everything else ... I will not involve you. We will solve all other issues. But, if there is no economy, we don’t need any quadcopters and drones because we won’t be able to cope with the situation ourselves.”
The Head of State demands, “Mobilise everyone and continue what we did in the middle or the beginning of last year, when we were stunned by these sanctions, when we started to get out of it.”
The President recalled that at first, the Government began to lean towards drastic movements, proposing to distribute money and benefits to business entities. These initiatives had to be curtailed, since it is necessary to act carefully. Another requirement of the Head of State is to clear all the ministries from structures that require considerable funds for their maintenance, but generate low effect. In particular, this refers to the structures of advanced training of specialists. This task would have been performed by specialised educational institutions, and not by separate structures within or subordinate to certain ministries.”
