Expert: European countries trapping themselves by escalating Ukraine conflict
European leaders should deal with solving the problems of their own countries rather than trying to raise the degree of the Ukrainian conflict – as noted by Professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Konstantin Simonov
Earlier, the French newspaper Le Monde reported that European countries had resumed discussions on the possible dispatch of troops or PMC fighters to Ukraine. The Polish mass media also reported that the Polish authorities wanted to legislate the possibility for Polish citizens to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“By escalating the conflict, they are trapping themselves. It is the same with nuclear weapons – if you hand them over to Ukraine, you do not know where they will end up tomorrow. If you use mercenaries on Ukrainian territory, you don't know how it will end for Poland when they return. When you use such extremely harsh tools, it’s a boomerang that can hit you right in the forehead. By the way, [French President Emmanuel] Macron’s government resigned, and he's still thinking about how to help Ukraine. He also persuaded [US President-elect Donald] Trump to meet with Zelenskyy. Instead of dealing with his own country, where the government has resigned and there is no budget for next year, Macron is thinking about helping Kiev,” the expert said.
