Lukashenko signed law on improving mechanisms for protecting Belarus' national interests in media sphere
The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has signed the law On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Belarus On Mass Media, the Belarusian leader’s press service reports
The document is aimed at improving mechanisms for protecting national interests in the media sphere, as well as expanding tools for responding to unfriendly actions against Belarus.
The law provides for the possibility of introducing a ban on the activities of foreign media on the territory of the Republic of Belarus in the event of unfriendly actions by foreign states against the Belarusian media.
It is also envisaged to determine the features of the functioning of news aggregators and the legal status of their owners.
The list of grounds for revoking the certificate of state registration of mass media and restricting access to an Internet resource, online publication, news aggregator is expanding.
The requirements for the activities of the owners of Internet resources distributing the products of TV and (or) broadcasting media are established.
