“Last weekend, the President inspected the fields and crops of the Grodno and Brest regions. As a follow-up to this inspection, a principled and detailed conversation has taken place today with the Brest Region Governor, during which Yuri Shuleiko reported to the Head of State on his region’s readiness for the harvesting campaign. Farms in the Brest Region have already started harvesting winter barley on a selective basis,” the press service informed.
In general, the Brest Region will have to harvest a grain wedge of 360,000 hectares. Winter barley crops have increased by a third, giving good results year after year. In 2024, about 30,000 hectares (of winter barley) will be harvested. The first farms began harvesting on a selective basis on June 17th. Over the past two years, the Brest Region farms have received more than 300 new combine harvesters. Work in this direction continues.
About 6,000 people will be involved in the Brest Region grain harvesting campaign: combine operators, drivers, operators, and other workers. 1,384 combine harvesters will be used.
