At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of State outlined three blocks of issues that he would like to discuss with the Prosecutor General, “This is probably not the first time that the question of prosecutorial supervision over the situation in the Armed Forces, compliance with laws, and so on has arisen. At what level are we today?”

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that there are a lot of proposals on this issue, including regarding the creation of a system of military prosecutors. The President added, “We are not talking about a return to that Soviet practice, but there should be some elements. I know there are many points of view. I would like to know how your position is justified, how do you motivate it? The fact is that we need to strengthen control over compliance with the law. I have already told you about this, that the Prosecutor’s Office somewhat moved away from the security agencies at one time.”

The Head of State noted that shoulder straps are worn not only in the army, but also in other security structures, including the Emergencies Ministry, the Interior Ministry, and the State Security Committee (KGB).

“There should be prosecutorial supervision everywhere,” Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined.
