Lukashenko promised to think over proposal to build museum on Mound of Glory

The Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Aleksandr Turchin, voiced the idea of his committee to build a museum of military glory on the Mound of Glory in a conversation with President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko who visited the memorial complex today

The Head of State noted that the proposal needs to be thought over.

At the Mound of Glory, the Belarusian leader got acquainted with the reconstruction of the upper platform of the memorial complex. In turn, Mr. Turchin reported to the President on the stages of financing construction and installation works and plans for their completion.

Aleksandr Lukashenko demanded a business-like approach from everyone, “It is not even about the money. You should not spoil the original appearance. There should be no excesses here.”


Since 2023, the memorial complex has been undergoing reconstruction. Construction and installation works have been carried out on the central staircase and the flower-laying area. The fountain, water storage tanks, automatic irrigation and utility networks, parking, administration building, and outdoor lamps have been updated. Multimedia screens have also been installed, and the exposition of military equipment has been replenished.

The reconstruction of the stairs to climb the Mound of Glory and its restoration are scheduled for H2 2024.
