The Head of State noted, “I want to say a couple of words about villages, while staying in this rural church. You can see that, in these difficult times, we are doing a lot to save them. I will not name the post-Soviet countries that have destroyed villages. There will be no state, if we lose them. We will lose the state as well in this case. Therefore, I promise you that – as a man who grew up in the village, who knows how rural people live – I will do everything to save our villages, to ensure that villages, which are the breadwinner of our people and the foundation of our state, would be strong, powerful and prosperous. This does not mean that we will forget about cities. The latter are industrial centres, and villages also cannot develop without industry. We will do everything to develop our economy. We have everything for this, as never before – despite difficult times.”
