Lukashenko outlined promising areas of co-operation with Ulyanovsk Region: aviation and transport
Aircraft construction, passenger equipment, and eco-friendly transport are promising areas of co-operation between Belarus and Russian regions – as noted by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at today’s meeting with the Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region, Aleksei Russkikh
The Head of State recalled that Belarus inherited a serious production base from the USSR times to manufacture all sort of equipment – including agricultural machines and components for the aircraft repair. “We have preserved and enlarged this base, so we can use it now jointly. The aircraft industry is the most important direction in terms of technical progress, the introduction of the latest scientific developments into production,” he noted.
The Belarusian leader added that he discussed this topic with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week, “We agreed to work on the joint production of aircraft for regional transportation. We have the appropriate competencies for this. I would like to know what opportunities do you see? This is a project focused on the future, not for one year. The investments will be significant, but the positive effect is expected to be huge as well. We already produce certain components for this industry, and we are ready to expand the range of this production.”
In the Ulyanovsk Region, much attention is paid to the development of eco-friendly transport, which aims to be cost-effective and affordable for all social groups. In this regard, Belarus is ready to meet the needs of the region in modern passenger vehicles – electric and gas-powered buses. In addition, the President added that a wide range of trucks, agricultural, municipal and road construction vehicles are produced in the country. “Financing schemes. We are ready to train personnel and supply spare parts,” he noted.
