Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev reported to the President on the reconstruction of the technopark site, as well as on the prospects for the development of MotoVeloZavod JSC located on this territory. The Head of State asked what problems have not yet been solved. According to Chairman of the State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov, the development of the territory is proceeding according to plan. Meanwhile, there are still issues with the localisation of the production of motorbike and bicycle equipment.
Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled that many industrial schools and competencies were once preserved in the country and emphasised, “Localisation is the important issue for us. This is not just an image project. We manufactured tractors in the Soviet years, vehicles (MAZs), bicycles, motorbikes — yes, image. But what is the essence of the problem. We’ve agreed that we need to develop our schools. What we inherited from those generations should not only be preserved, but also developed and modernised. We have followed this path, and in this regard, MotoVeloZavod has been included in this list. We need to develop what we know how to do and what we have already done. And we know how to do it.”
The Belarusian leader is convinced that anything can be done in our country, even a space rocket, but everything depends on time and money. And the big question is whether we need space rockets.
“Meanwhile, we need all these things: cars, tractors, bicycles and motorbikes. That’s why we proceeded from reality and developed the schools we had. We had serious competences, so we developed them,” the President noted.
