Lukashenko invites Russian regions to work together in the markets of the far arc countries
Belarus and Russia today can work profitably together, promoting their interests, in the markets of the distant arc countries with which we have good relations – as noted by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during his meeting with Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Andrei Travnikov
The Head of State noted that Belarus is now actively developing relations with the far arc countries, which have a good attitude towards us. Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined, “If you have interests and we can help you with something (you can see for yourself where and with what), we are ready to help and work together in these distant states. There is the greatest demand for us there. At our last meeting with the President of Russia we discussed this issue in detail.”
The Belarusian leader gave an example of how the USSR at one time made a huge contribution and created the foundation for the current co-operation of post-Soviet republics with African countries, “This primarily refers to Belarus and Russia on that [African] continent. They trust us more than anyone else. We need to take advantage of this by promoting our interests and supporting the development of both African and Asian countries. They’ve been waiting for us there for a long time. We need to work together here.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko does not rule out that Belarus can work in this direction and, if necessary, ‘drag along’ Russian regions to sell joint products in promising markets, “It’s a time of opportunity for us, you know that as well as I do. [Western companies] have left – goodbye!”
