Lukashenko invites Russia’s Arkhangelsk Region to liaise in modernising industrial enterprises

The Head of State outlined specific areas of co-operation, “First of all, I’m referring to timber processing, shipbuilding, and ship repair facilities. Today, fortunately, there are queues till the end of this year of those who want to purchase Belarusian modern machines and equipment. Anyway, we still have reserves.”

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, there’s also potential for joining forces in the transport sector.

“In the near future, Russians will have to settle issues dealing with the significant increase in transportation along the Northern Sea Route. To do this, it is necessary to build ships of reinforced ice class (the current needs stand ag 90 while only 30 are being produced). This topic is relevant for us,” asserted the Belarusian leader.

“It is relevant not only in that we can be useful to you in the construction of these ships. It is very important for us to seriously develop the Northern Sea Route, which envisages tens of millions of tonnes of cargo. Western countries have closed their ports due to sanctions, while Ukraine is also an unreliable partner and does not liaise with us. Therefore, it is very important for us to develop the Northern Sea Route. We tried to supply our goods in small quantities via this route to the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Far East. This is a very profitable path for us, so we’re keen to work with the Arkhangelsk Region,” Aleksandr Lukashenko explained.
