Lukashenko: intelligence data shows that informational and psychological impact will enhance

An informational and psychological impact, the dissemination of deliberately false, fake information are among the key global threats in the field of security at present – as noted by Aleksandr Lukashenko as he met with participants of the 52nd meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services

The Head of State noted, “The purpose of such actions is to undermine the authority of our states in the international arena – and more. Dangerous, aggressive actions are also sometimes covered as fakes. Take the drone attacks on the Russian Federation. Does this mean something militarily? Practically nothing. However, this works if presented under a fake cover. [As a result], in Belarus, Russia or somewhere else, people start discussing this. Therefore, information and psychological warfare is the basis, and everything is brought in line with it – including the economy, sci-tech co-operation, the Internet, and even armed provocations.”

The President added that the actual information monopoly of the West, namely control over the Internet, major social networks and international media, contributes to this trend, “It is noteworthy that they cover this monopoly, as well as their maniacal desire to prevent the creation of a multipolar world, with the slogan of the struggle for democracy. There is nothing behind this democracy. There is no democracy there. Thank God, we have already got convinced of that, and there is no need to convince anyone. You saw how those in America are acting, and what they are trying to promote here. Under this slogan, Western elites will do everything to disrupt any integration processes, force our states to abandon partnership relations, as well as artificially create tension points in and around the Commonwealth of Independent States.”

As a vivid example, Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned the current situation in Ukraine. According to him, the country has become a bargaining chip in geopolitical games.

“The intelligence information – received, including through the channels of partner relations of the special services – indicates that the listed threats will increase in the foreseeable future,” the President stressed. “If some might think that it will be possible to sit out, this is not true. The recent events in Kazakhstan are a bright example of this. There was an internal element there, as always. It could not start from nothing. A certain internal element is always present. There are forces interested in destabilisation, a return to power, or something else. Later, foreign special services quickly create a whole network of elements that contribute to the destabilisation of the situation in our republics around this internal element. The example of Kazakhstan is that we all united then. We actually did nothing, but – as soon as they saw our determination – they retreated. Therefore, we need to be closer to each other.”
