Lukashenko: I sincerely love Ukraine and its people
The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, confessed his love for Ukraine and Ukrainians in his talk with journalist Diana Panchenko, BelTA reports
The Head of State recalled that he also has Ukrainian roots, “It is my personal affair: I love Ukraine very much, and I loved it in the past. I remember – when my eldest son was still young – I got into a car and drove along the Leningrad-Odessa highway. I went to Odessa. I stopped in the fields and looked at that beauty. That was in Soviet times. I sincerely love this country and these people," the President said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that he treats well even the so-called Westerners, who are considered to be more nationalistic in their views. “When I headed an agricultural enterprise, they came to me to earn money every year. They needed grain. Actually, it is impossible to harvest much in the Carpathians. They were so hard-working, and I always mentioned them as an example. I always brought them twice as much grain than they earned on my own transport there, to Western Ukraine,” he said.
"I feel the supreme respect for these people, including those from the West of the country – so that you know," Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “I also went to Crimea. I always treated Ukraine with love, and I still have the same feelings – not matter what sort of rascal, rather than Batka – they are making of me. Time will pass, and people will get to the bottom.”
