Lukashenko: housing developers’ obligations to be ‘ironclad’

Housing developers’ quality obligations have to be ironclad, said President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko at the official opening of a new section of the third line of the Minsk metro on December 30th

That section of the metro is going through the Minsk World residential complex. Earlier, the Head of State has cited residents’ petitions to express dissatisfaction with its developer. He asked how the construction is going in the area now.

Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev responded that the project is still underway. 27 buildings are currently under construction. The developer is building a school and a financial centre out of its own pocket.

Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded everyone that there used to be complaints regarding the construction quality there. The State Control Committee discovered multiple violations and made the developer pay substantial fines.

“Everyone’s obligations have to be ironclad. Dana or not [Dana Holdings, the Minsk World developer], doesn’t matter. If you built an apartment building, it has to be high quality. If it’s not, you have to build it again,” the President said.
