Lukashenko: Hi-Tech Park is a peculiar feature of our independence
The Hi-Tech Park at one time became a peculiar feature of the independence of the young Belarusian state, and young people today are actively joining the IT sphere – as noted by the President of Belarus while being reported on the HTP development. In particular, the Head of State drew attention to the fact that thanks to the HTP, it was possible to push the education sector in terms of training highly qualified IT specialists.
In this regard, Aleksandr Lukashenko shared his observation, “I’m already worried that we probably have an excessive imbalance in the IT sphere and training of specialists in this regard. But this is a regulated issue: if there is no demand, there will be no preparation. If there is a demand, then youngsters are preparing, young people want to work as IT specialists. Therefore, no matter how we look at it, the Hi-Tech Park was a peculiar feature of our independence of a young state, it must exist.”
At the same time, the President asked the speakers to provide objective information on how the HTP should work today, what the situation is developing there. The Belarusian Head of State also recalled that Decree No. 136 On the State Administration Agency in the Sphere of Digital Development and Informatisation Issues was signed in April 2022, while the High Tech Park was instructed to create a database of residents’ competencies and determine the procedure for their involvement in the processes of digitalisation of economic sectors.
In this context, the Belarusian leader noted that it is necessary to discuss the results of this activity, asking how the Supervisory Board works in the HTP, how much the situation is controlled, and what steps lie ahead.
“You understand that I – as a person responsible for the security of our state and the stability of the functioning of our society – cannot allow a ‘wave’ from IT specialists, individual entrepreneurs and so on to come again. I want to underline once again, I do not hide that thanks to the President, such industries have appeared in our economy and in our society. Therefore, I bear responsibility for this,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
