Lukashenko: fair pricing formula work nearing completion
The Government of Belarus is close to completing their work on the fair pricing formula, said President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko during his meeting with his proxies today, December 3rd, in the Palace of Independence.
As the Head of State emphasised, he had stated repeatedly that the new 2025 year will not be easy, including for Belarus’ key trade partners. He emphasised that, meanwhile, “We are going to keep our tough policies regarding inflation, pricing, and other matters. I know, the economy can’t be ‘pure’ and viewed in isolation: life has a way of adjusting economic approaches, I’ve seen proof of that. That’s why we are going to monitor the prices. We will prepare the fair pricing formula, the Government is close to completing that work. If the Government can’t do that, another government will.”
The key approaches to pricing issues in Belarus are common knowledge, added the President, and emphasises that the issue has to be solved.
“We have to find a solution that is fair and equitable. The situation when traders, or those who contribute less to the production of goods earn windfall money and even siphon them abroad won’t do. This is another issue we have to handle,” he said.
Preliminary discussions at the top level have already taken place and, as responsible officials reported, there are no significant problems there (and in rare cases that do take place, the amounts are negligible).
Aleksandr Lukashenko’s position on that issue remains, meanwhile, exceptionally strong.
