Lukashenko believes Belarus, Russia’s Tula Region able to reach $1bn in trade
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has met today with Dmitry Milyaev, the Governor of the Tula Region of the Russian Federation. Welcoming the guest, the Head of State congratulated him on his election to the high and responsible post of regional governor (early election of the Tula Region Governor place in September this year).
Aleksandr Lukashenko also noted that the current trip of the Tula Governor to Belarus was one of the first steps in his new position, “And, of course, I would like it to be effective.”
The President stated that the last time he met with the Tula Region delegation in Minsk was more than a decade ago, in 2012, with the then Governor Vladimir Gruzdev.
“During this time, Belarus and your region have made a serious step forward in our co-operation. Over the past two years, the bilateral trade turnover, despite any difficulties, or perhaps due to these difficulties, has reached $0.5bn. This is quite impressive, given that we have added 37 per ent in the first nine months of this year. It’s a colossal growth. So $1bn is not such a high bar for us today.”
