Lukashenko: Belarus’ information policy aims to reach out every person

The Belarusian state is not a winner, but so far it is not losing in the information war – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko, BelTA reports

During the interview, Diana Panchenko noted that Ukrainians blame Russians for all their troubles now. In her opinion, Ukraine was made a ‘country of hatred’ long before the events of 2022. “That was being done consciously. That was the state policy. What should be done for Belarusians not to experience this?” she asked the Head of State.

The President believes it is necessary to engage as much as possible in the struggle in the information field. “We are opposing this trend on this battlefield as far as possible, as far as we can. Actually, I should say that we are not winners yet, but we are not losing as well. This is probably because the truth always wins. Those telling a lie will never win,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

"If to analyse everything that has happened between our peoples and countries in recent years, then the following can be said: everything has been done consciously and methodically so that Ukrainians received less information about Belarusians and Russians – and vice versa. As a result, the people who once lived in the same country know absolutely nothing about each other today. For example, many Ukrainians are sure that every Russian thinks of how to kill more Ukrainians as he wakes up in the morning. Don't you think that exactly the same process is now taking place in relation to Russia and Belarus on the one hand, and to Europe – on the other hand? Aren't we being systematically prepared for some big and terrible processes in this way?" the journalist asked.

The President did not rule out that this is possible, “Those who conquers others’ brains will win any war in the future. Therefore, we might be prepared for this through our brains. Meanwhile, the government’s power is to counteract this – no matter how difficult it is, no matter how unequal the forces are. Actually, it is better to fight like this than to attack each other with missiles.”

"It is difficult in this information field, but it is necessary to fight. Otherwise, you will fight the way Russia is fighting with Ukraine. Therefore, we are trying, resisting, and doing everything possible," the Head of State added. “Our tactics aim to reach out every person, to meet him, to talk to him… This is the most important area of our work. People will appreciate it. I also do my best to meet, talk, inform.”
