Lukashenko arrived at opening ceremony of international standard swimming pool in Minsk
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived at the opening ceremony of an international standard swimming pool in Minsk, BelTA reports
Upon arrival, a bouquet of flowers was presented to the Head of State by 2024 Summer Olympics finalist Alina Zmushka and World Championship bronze medallist Vasilina Khandoshka.
After the opening ceremony, Aleksandr Lukashenko will get acquainted with the equipment and organisational aspects of the pool’s work.
Representatives of the sports community, the Chinese Embassy and the Beijing Construction Engineering Group general contracting organisation have been invited to the opening of the facility.
The swimming pool is one of the projects implemented within the framework of humanitarian co-operation between Belarus and China. Its design and construction (which began in August 2020) were conducted by the Chinese side on a turnkey basis in accordance with the technical requirements and norms of the People's Republic of China, as well as the technical requirements and criteria of the International Swimming Federation. According to the World Aquatics requirements, the category of the facility is AC-5 – enabling it to host world and European championships in water sports.
The facility is supposed to be used as a modern training base for national teams of Belarus and as a venue for national competitions in water sports. It will provide services to citizens and host high-level international competitions. Optimal conditions have been created for the organisation of the educational and training process, nutrition, rest and recovery of athletes, as well as their scientific and methodological support.
