According to Mr. Muraveiko, during the Security Council meeting, the Belarusian leader approved a comprehensive document that creates the foundation of strategic defence planning: the State Intent Plan. “It specifically presents five main strategic directions which focus on the reduction of the level of military danger and the prevention of military conflicts – that is, the actions that we will take in the political, economic, information and military spheres in order to ensure the above mentioned,” he explained.

Another direction concerns the preparation of the state for defence, and it covers all spheres – including the economy and the military affairs. In addition, the document outlines the options for the armed protection of Belarus in various modern conflicts.

The Chief of the General Staff added, “Other issues deal with the preparation of the state and its economy for functioning in conditions of warfare. Much attention is paid to such an aspect as the maintenance of international peace and security, as well as the elimination of various manifestations that may affect the security of our country.”

These directions are described in detail in the document, the relevant government agencies that will implement them are identified, and the necessary set of measures is outlined. Subsequently, the intent will be transformed into the plan for Belarus’ defence for 2026-2030. This coincides with the approaches of planning the country’s socio-economic development.
