Lukashenko approved Belarus' participation strategies in SCO and BRICS
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has approved the strategies of Belarus' participation in the work of SCO (Shanghai Co-operation Organisation) and BRICS, BelTA reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service
The drafts of the strategy of Belarus' participation in the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation and the strategy of actions for the implementation of Belarus’ foreign policy within the framework of its participation in the BRICS activities have been submitted by the Government for consideration by the Head of State. Aleksandr Lukashenko approved both documents.
In the summer of 2024, the country became a full member of the SCO family, and it later acquired the status of a BRICS partner state.
The approved strategy of Belarus' participation in SCO defines the conceptual areas of activity, goals and objectives of the country’s participation in the organisation, as well as the mechanisms for their implementation in the near and medium term.
The BRICS related strategy also defines the priority areas of Belarus' co-operation with the member and partner states of this association.
Both strategies are designed for five years, until 2030. They can be extended, updated, and revised to reflect current trends.
