Lukashenko about wisdom of Belarusian life: do not bow to anyone, live by your own mind and labour
We have been living on the land assigned to us by God for centuries and we do not want someone else’s, and we never wanted to – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during the large-scale patriotic forum – This is OUR History! – dedicated to National Unity Day
He remarked, “The greatness and dignity of our ancestors always woke up before any threats and were never built on the humiliation of their neighbours. As I said, neighbours are given by God, they are not chosen. The wisdom of life, which is passed down from generation to generation, is not to bow down to anyone, but to live with your own mind and labour.”
The President added that on National Unity Day we confidently say that the age-old dream of Belarusians has come true, “We have united in one country, in one republic: from the blue ribbon of Pripyat to the bells of St. Sophia of Polotsk, from the Kamenets Vezha and the Nieman waves to the majestic Dnieper and Sozh rivers. The torch of Belarusian statehood was lit in the ancient Principality of Polotsk, and after centuries of trials, thanks to the strength of the spirit of our ancestors, it was revived in Minsk. Under the bright sign of our unity, we confidently step into the future. It will always be like that. This is our story!”
