Long-distance trains stopped in Germany due to railway workers’ strike
In Germany, railway workers have started a strike, and the Deutsche Bahn concern cancelled all long-distance trains du to this, TASS reports
The strike began on April 21st at 03:00 local time, with long-distance trains cancelled. Moreover, commuter service operates with serious disruptions.
Actually, the transport situation in Germany is complicated by a strike at the country’s four airports: employees from Stuttgart are joining the workers of Hamburg, Dusseldorf and Cologne-Bonn air harbours that have been on strike since April 20th. According to the ADV Airport Association, the strike has disrupted plans of more than forty thousand passengers, as 700 flights have been cancelled in two days.
German trade unions are seeking to increase transport workers’ salaries, so they are turning to strikes to put maximum pressure on employers in the light of the upcoming round of negotiations.
