Lifts, illumination turned off in Moldova’s Parliament to save electricity

The Moldovan Parliament dimmed the lights, reduced the heating, and took other measures to save energy in anticipation of the Russian gas supplies being cut on January 1st, TASS reports

According to the official press service, the street illumination on the Parliament building has been turned off, and the interior lights made 30 percent dimmer. MPs were also asked to keep the temperature in their offices below 19 degrees and avoid using lifts. Some of the lifts in the building have been disconnected from the grid, along with the air conditioning system.

Starting from January 1st, 2025, Russia is set to cease supplying Moldova with natural gas used by the Moldovan thermal power station.
