Li Qiang: Belarus-China relations developing steadily and confidently
Relations between Belarus and China are developing steadily and confidently – as stated by Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang during his meeting with President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko on August 22nd
The distinguished guest thanked the Head of State for the meeting and conveyed sincere greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping, “This is my second visit to your beautiful country, and the hospitality of the Belarusian people is everywhere here.”
Prior to the meeting with the President, Li Qiang laid a wreath at the Victory Monument. He said this reminds him of the times when Belarusian and Chinese peoples fought side by side in the anti-fascist war. Moreover, Mao Zedong's eldest son, having travelled thousands of kilometres, fought as an instructor in a tank company of the 1st Belorussian Front. In turn, Belarusian soldiers went to China as part of the Red Army to fight against the invaders.
“The Belarusian proverb says: ‘Friendship and brotherhood are more precious than all wealth’. I believe that we should appreciate our friendship, which is sealed with blood," the distinguished guest stressed.
Li Qiang added that the relations between the two countries have been developing steadily in recent years under the leadership of the Belarusian and Chinese presidents. “We have reached the level of all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership, and our relations are at an unprecedented high level. The results of business co-operation are increasing. In July 2024, our heads of state held a meeting in Astana and developed new plans to strengthen bilateral ties. During my present visit, I am ready to join my Belarusian colleagues to fully implement the agreements reached at the highest level and to further enhance our mutually fruitful co-operation for the benefit of the two countries and our peoples," the Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China stressed.
