Oleg Kozhemyako underlined that interaction between the Primorsky Krai and Belarus is mutually beneficial, while specific plans need to be adjusted in dynamic conditions, including those dealing with the prospects of work for next year, particularly, the supply of Belarusian equipment to the Primorsky Krai.

“A meeting with the country’s leadership always gives an opportunity to see the prospects of obtaining [equipment] on the additional volumes that we need. Of course, agreeing on large volumes for next year is important,” Mr. Kozhemyako noted.

Another beneficial topic for both sides is the creation of a joint port – necessary for the Belarusian side as an important point on the transit route to China. According to the governor, this will be a Russian-Belarusian project, in which the Chinese side could also take part as a partner.

“As part of the development of the Northern Sea Route, this plan is very interesting. We talked about it beforehand, and now the selection of sites is underway. I think this year we’ll already decide on the most convenient place with a certain infrastructure,” Mr. Kozhemyako explained.

Moreover, the Primorsky Krai is one of the first places in Russia to have an international territory of advanced development.

“That’s why we also invited our Belarusian friends and colleagues to participate in it. Now we’ll form proposals,” he added.

The Russian governor also said that his region liaises with Belarus across absolutely all directions: from agriculture and industry to the humanitarian sphere. Educational exchanges are one of the topics. The Primorsky Krai relies on the development of forestry, so a whole group will come to the Forestry Institute in Belarus to study. Teachers will also take courses in our country; in turn, our teachers will give lectures in the Primorsky Krai.

“This exchange will enable us to open joint ventures. Gomeldrev is keen to supply veneer, and we’re interested in the supply and assembly of furniture for kindergartens and households,” Mr. Kozhemyako summed up.
