Kochanova: Woman of the Year contest is among Belarus’ good traditions
Belarusian women are beautiful, intelligent and talented, but, importantly, they can be distinguished from others by immense love for the republic and its people, by their devotion to the profession and extraordinary patriotism – as stated by Natalya Kochanova, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, before today’s solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the Woman of the Year republican contest
Answering a question about the contribution of Belarusian women to the country’s development, Ms. Kochanova noted, “In my opinion, recognition is important for every person – no matter how someone might modestly assert that this is not true. I believe that it is always necessary to say kind words to those who really deserve them. Therefore, we always gather with great joy to say words of gratitude to women who make a significant contribution to the development of our country and its younger generation, who have a civic stance. Our women always support initiatives aimed at creation and development, further improvement of any Belarusian industry. Representatives of all regions of Belarus, of different professions, spheres and ages have gathered today, and it’s always great when we all get together.”
According to Ms. Kochanova, representatives of the Belarusian Women's Union are still encouraged by their recent meeting with Head of State Aleksandr Lukashenko. “Our President always supports women's initiatives,” she stated. “By the way, the Woman of the Year contest was supported by him back in 2007, and it is now a good tradition in our country to meet with the best ladies who have approved themselves.”
