Kim Jong Un announced need for further co-operation with Russia
The leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Jong Un, stated the need to comprehensively promote trade, economic, scientific and technical co-operation with Russia, calling the relations between the two countries ‘close and fundamental’, RIA Novosti reports
As informed by the Central Telegraph Agency, Kim Jong Un held a meeting with Russia’s Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Alexander Kozlov who co-chairs the commission on trade, economic and sci-tech co-operation between the governments of Russia and the DPRK. The Russian delegation arrived in Pyongyang to participate in the 11th meeting of the intergovernmental commission of the Russian Federation and the DPRK.
Kim Jong Un stressed that, after the conclusion of a new treaty between the DPRK and Russia, bilateral solidarity and co-operation in various fields became ‘closer, expanded and fundamental’. “He underlined the need to further comprehensively promote intergovernmental trade, economic, scientific and technical exchange and co-operation in order to contribute to mutual prosperity and development of the two countries, in accordance with the new strategic level reached by friendly relations between the DPRK and Russia," the source reported.
It is also indicated that the conversation was ‘warm and intimate’, and the atmosphere was ‘friendly and sincere’.
